Hunters Harvest is an online country food marketplace created by Project Nunavut Ltd., an Iqaluit-based social enterprise that works to create economic opportunities in the harvesting sector. The goal of Hunters Harvest is to bring certainty, reliability, and convenience to the grassroots trade in country food while strengthening the capacity of Hunters and Trappers Organizations to effectively and sustainably manage harvests.
Inuit have harvesting rights under subsection 5.7.30 of the Nunavut Agreement, including the right to sell country food harvested in Nunavut. Hunters Harvest helps Inuit exercise that right.
Hunters Harvest was made possible by funding from the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Economic Development and Transportation and from the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency’s IDEANorth program.
